Plea for pay hike to NREGS staff

HYDERABAD: The A.P. NREGS Contract Employees’ Union on Wednesday appealed to Rural Development Minister G. Chinna Reddy to increase the wages/allowance of 3,300 technical assistants and 1,500 computer operators. In a representation, union leaders suggested that the gross salary of each assistant and operator be Rs.7,500-10,000 with Rs.5,500 as the basic pay. They said the services of the contract staff should be regularised, with personal/health insurance and PF facilities. –Special Correspondent
