wooing visitors: Tourism Minister N. Suresh Rajan distributes promotional pamphlets to visitors to the Thiruvanmiyur beach on Wednesday. Chennai: The Tamil Nadu Tourism Development Corporation is wooing people with zeal. Its latest tourism promotion drive was conducted among walkers and joggers at the Thiruvanmiyur beach on Wednesday evening. Tourism Minister N. Suresh Rajan, Secretary V. Irai Anbu and TTDC Chairman Sanwat Ram gave away colourful and glossy pamphlets on various tours and packages to the beach users. Pilgrimage packages, student tours and inter-State trips are available. Mr. Irai Anbu said the campaign conducted earlier at Marina beach, Besant Nagar beach and Natesan Park was beginning to show positive results. The daily tour to Sripuram Golden Temple near Vellore has become popular after the campaign. The drive at Thiruvanmiyur beach was carried out in association with East Coast Walkers Association. The TTDC’s tourist-friendly autorickshaw drivers also interacted with visitors to the beach. The next campaign will soon be held at Palavakkam beach. The occasion was also used to publicise the ‘platinum’ and ‘gold’ card schemes offered by the TTDC for discounts at its hotels. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
