Tamil Nadu - Coimbatore

New power connection

Staff Reporter

COIMBATORE: The Coimbatore Consumer Cause has appealed to the Tamil Nadu Electricity Board to issue instructions to its field officers on the Tamil Nadu Electricity Regulatory Commission’s notification on collection of documents for “other compliances” while applying for a new service connection.

The consumer body’s secretary, K. Kathirmathiyon, has said in a release that the commission had issued a notification in May this year, clarifying that new service connection should be provided only when the intending consumer submitted the plan approval for construction from appropriate authorities while applying for the connection.

It clarified that documents showing payment of necessary charges and obtaining of permit, approval, sanction or consent from the appropriate authorities for construction, alteration, repairs to buildings or establishment of new factories should be given with the application.

Several officers of the board were unaware of the clarification even now.
