SIT clinches women’s title

MADURAI: Sethu Institute of Technology (Kariapatti) won the women’s team title in the Anna University zone IX inter-engineering college badminton tournament with a 2-0 win over host KLN College of Engineering 2-0 at KLNCE courts, Pottapalayam, near here, on Thursday.

The results (final): SIT bt KLN 2-0 (Jayanthi bt Sangeetha 21-5, 21-5; Jeba & Jayanthi bt Deepika Rani & Prema 25-4, 21-10).

Third place: PSNA (Dindigul) bt Syed Ammal Engg. (Ramanathapuram) 2-0 (Mekala bt Ponmalar 21-12, 13-21, 21-18; Mekala & Saranya bt Ponmalar & Putanarasi 21-13, 21-13).

Ganesh Babu ahead

S. Ganesh Babu of Thiagarajar Arts College was the sole leader with 6.5 points at the end of the seventh round of the Madurai Kamaraj University chess tournament at Madurai on Thursday.
