KVB first quarter net at Rs. 31 crore

CHENNAI: Karur Vysya Bank has reported a total business of Rs. 23,032.23 crore in the quarter ended June 30,2008, against Rs. 17,212.76 crore in the corresponding quarter in the previous year, recording a growth of 34 per cent. Total interest income went up to Rs. 327.67 crore from Rs. 256.18 crore, a rise of 27.9 per cent. The bank earned a net profit of Rs. 30.54 crore against Rs. 47.95 crore. The drop was mainly on account of provisioning of Rs. 49 crore owing to the increase in the yield of government securities. — Corporate Reporter
