Exide net surges by 34 %

CHENNAI: Exide Industries has reported a 34 per cent growth in gross turnover at Rs. 1,135 crore in the quarter ended June 30, 2008, against Rs. 848 crore. The net profit has improved by 17 per cent to Rs. 82 crore from Rs. 70 crore. Commenting on the performance, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, T.V. Ramanathan, said, “profit growth was affected by the depreciation of the rupee vis-a-vis all major currencies.”
