Sony was one of the first to introduce the technology, in its PS3 gaming consoles, but with its superior capacity Blu-ray has been outselling HD-DVD. This new model is BD-Live ready, and also comes with an Ethernet port to ensure easy firmware update s and offers 24X7 access to Internet-based interactive services. The Precision Drive HD helps to correct wobbling discs from almost three directions. The model is much lighter, consumes one-fifth less power in playback mode and features a quick start up mode. The model offers 7.1 channel Dolby TrueHD and Dolby Digital Plus decoding and bit-stream output, as well as DTS-HD High Resolution Audio and Master Audio bit-stream output. It’s compatible with an array of video formats, including BDMV/BDAV, CD/DVD and JPEG on DVD/CD recordable media.
