Kozhikode: The police on Friday carried out checks at various places in the city in the wake of multiple blasts in Bangalore. A State-wide alert had been issued following the blasts, Police Commissioner Anup Kuruvilla John said. At railways stationsChecks were carried out at railway stations in Kozhikode, Vellayil, Kallai and Feroke; bus stations at Palayam, mofussil and Kerala State Road Transport Corporation stands on Mavoor Road and hotels and lodges in the city. Bomb squadThe dog squad and the bomb disposal squad were pressed into service. Residents have been asked to inform the police about suspicious packets found at public places and strangers moving around in neighbourhoods. AlertsHotel and lodge managers have also been asked to alert the police about suspicious-looking persons checking into their establishments. Assistant Commissioners of Police K.R. Premachandran and C.M. Pradeep Kumar led the checks at various places. Vehicles were also checked at specific points in the city.
