P.S. Nair dead

MALAPPURAM: P. Sivadas Nair, 80, former deputy chief controller of South-Central Railways who had spearheaded the campaign for development of Nilambur rail route, died at a private hospital in Kozhikode on Thursday.

General secretary

P.S. Nair was general secretary of the Nilambur-Mysore Railway Action Council for many years.

Paying homage

People from different walks of life paid homage to Mr. Nair on Saturday at his daughter’s house at Manjeri.

The funeral took place at Iyvar Madom near Shoranur on Saturday afternoon.

He is survived by a son and a daughter.

Condoling the death of Mr. Nair, Nilambur-Mysore Railway Action Council leader Biju Nainan said that he was instrumental not only in bringing development to the rail route in Nilambur but also in generating a new consciousness among the people about the potential and necessity of linking Nilambur with Mysore by rail.

Meeting

The Nilambur-Mysore Railway Action Council will convene a meeting in Nilambur on Saturday evening to pay tribute to Mr. Nair.

T.K. Hamza, MP, Aryadan Mohammed, MLA, and K. Vasudevan, BJP disciplinary council member will attend.
