Jail clash leaves one dead

PATNA: One person was killed and four injured in a clash between two inmates of the Biharsharif divisional jail in Nalanda district on Friday.

The deceased was identified as Alakhdev Mahto, a life-term convict.

He was allegedly hit with a brick and taken to Sadar hospital, where he died. Those who sought to save him from the onslaught of another convict were the injured.

Of the four injured, Raj Nandan Mahto, who was admitted to the Patna Medical College Hospital, was stated to be in a critical condition.
