THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The government has declared more than 600 villages in 14 districts of the State as calamity-hit following heavy rain. All villages in Alappuzha and Malappuram and most of the villages in the coastal districts are covered under the notification. In Thiruvananthapuram district, 12 villages of Thiruvananthapuram taluk, seven villages of Neyyattinkara taluk and five villages of Nedumangad taluk are declared as having been calamity-hit. In Kollam district, 25 villages of Kollam taluk and 11 villages of Kottarakkara taluk and all villages of Karunagappally taluk and Pathanapuram taluk are covered. In Pathanamthitta district, two villages each of Adoor and Thiruvalla taluks and three villages of Kozhencherry come under the notification. The number of villages declared calamity-hit in the other taluks are: Kottayam district: Kottayam-17, Changanassery-7, Vaikom-11 and Meenachil taluk-5. Idukki district: Devikulam-6, Udumbanchola-18 and Perumedu-7.Ernakulam district: Aluva-3, Paravoor-5, Kanayannur-16 and Kochi-10. Thrissur district: Thrissur-44, Chavakkad-9, Mukundapuram-31 and Thalappally-5. Palakkad district: Alathur-6, Chittur-5, Palakkad-4, Mannarkkad-6 and Ottappalam-4. Kozhikode district: Vadakara-4 and Koyilandi-6. Kannur district: Kannur-17, Taliparamba-19 and Thalassery-9. Wayanad district: Vythiri-9, Mananthavadi-3 and Sulthan Bathery-5.
