IT industry on alert

Bangalore: The security for information technology and other major industries in Bangalore has been tightened following explosions in the city, but work in most places went on as usual.

Infosys is taking extra precaution to protect its employees, and has been in touch with the police and the security service in Electronics City, said Mohandas Pai, Member of the company’s board. He said the company was in constant communication with the employees.

A statement from Infosys said: “The Government and law enforcement authorities have promised the citizens that they will investigate and take steps to apprehend those responsible. All of us support the Government in this endeavour. All our employees are safe and there has been no impact on our business operations. We are in touch with the police and will remain fully alert. We have increased security on our campus.”

Wipro said its employees are safe. It said its Madiwala facility was the closest to any of the explosion sites, and employees were asked to leave early.

In an internal communication to its employees, Mphasis said for the business process outsourcing business there would be no changes and transport will be provided, an employee said. He said the mail from the company said it would be business as usual.

Productivity may be hit for a few days, said Subhash Bal, Country Director, Synopsys (India) EDA Software Pvt. Ltd.
