Bangalore: Children from over 50 clubs in various city schools on Saturday took an oath to be more civic conscious citizens. Participating in “Inspiration 2008”, a civic fest organised as part of Children’s Movement for Civic Awareness, by the Public Affairs Centre and Swabhimana at St John’s Indian School, they vowed to initiate changes in their homes that would enable them to be civic conscious. The fest was aimed at educating and involving young people in the process of reclaiming civic virtues and citizenship. The focus was on disseminating information in a manner that children could quickly understand so that they took home the message of being civic conscious. Addressing the young participants, Additional Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Praveen Sood said it was easier to inculcate the right attitude among children. “Let us stop blaming the Government for all the civic problems. Instead, let us take up the responsibility of being civic conscious and solve the problems ourselves,” he said. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
