BANGALORE: Home Minister V.S. Acharya on Saturday expressed confidence that a clear picture on those behind the serial blasts that rocked Bangalore on Friday will emerge in about two days.

The Minister told presspersons that Saturday’s incident in which the police detected a bomb and defused it, was expected to provide clues on the mode of operation of those behind the attacks. “Wait for a day or two. We will be able to link the threads and arrive at a conclusion,” he said.

Mr. Acharya declined to comment on whether any organisation or group was suspected to have been involved in the incident. “At the moment, it is not wise to name any organisation as it may affect the investigation,” he said.

He said the vehicular traffic had reduced by about 10 per cent in Bangalore because of fear psychosis.

Panic was their aim

According to a senior police official, the places where the explosives were planted indicate that the criminals had no plan of causing extensive damage to life and property.

Their intention was to create panic.

The police have heightened vigil all over the city and strengthened security at vital installations, including railway stations and bus stations, defence establishments and places of worship.

Reward

The State Police Department has announced a cash reward of Rs. 1 lakh to any individual who gives information leading on the blasts.

Any information regarding incidents aimed at disrupting peace may be reported to Ph: 22250999, 22942222, 22215911, 22942111 and 22942777.
