Jail term for police constable

NEW DELHI: A court here has sentenced a Delhi Police constable to 18-month imprisonment for accepting Rs.500 from a physically challenged man seven years ago.

Special Judge S.P. Garg also slapped a fine of Rs.5,000 on Vijay Narain. The court rejected his leniency plea saying that instead of acting as a member of the disciplined force, he accepted illegal gratification from a physically challenged person exploiting his helplessness.
