Big day Anand Kabra

Designer Anand Kabra will participate in Coterie New York this September. Anand has been called the “designer for the quintessential global woman”. This Hyderabad-based designer is a graduate from the London College of Fashion. “My professor, David Kappo, told me, ‘India is a part of you. It will never leave you. But now that you are here, open yourself up to this world too’”. That triggered off the designer’s ability to come up with Indian couture’s and international style with equal passion.

Anand uses vibrant motifs, vivid colours and varied embellishments and textures.

He also tries to add “contemporary interpretations to age old embroidery techniques, the employment of hand painting as a technique for his vibrant prints, the revival of ikat on new textiles such as chanderi and so on.”

At the Coterie in New York, Anand Kabra is accompanied by a group of talented emerging and established designers including Anuj Sharma, Nachiket Barve, Nikasha Tawadey, Narendra Kumar and Rakesh Agarvwal. Coterie New York will be held between September 16 to 18.
