Indian team for World junior tennis finals

BANGALORE: A three-member Indian under-14 team will play the World junior tennis championship scheduled to be held at Prostejov, Czech Republic from August 3 to 9.

The team consists of Ronit Bisht (Delhi), Digvijaysingh Mehta (Chandigarh) and Ramkumar Ramanathan (Tamil Nadu) with Sunil Yajaman being the non-playing captain.

India qualified for the World finals by securing the third place in the Asia-Oceania qualifying zone which was held at Shenzhen, China during April.

Anil Khanna, honorary secretary-general of AITA, in a press statement said “AITA is proud that the team qualified for the World Finals and I’m sure under the experienced hands of captain Sunil Yajaman, the team will do well in the competition.”

The teams in the World finals are: Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, Croatia, Czech Republic, Egypt, France, Great Britain, India, Korea, Peru, Russia, South Africa, USA and Venezuela. — Special Correspondent
