’An additional Rs. 6,000 per unit sanctioned under housing project’ Chittoor: Chittoor district in charge Minister Anam Ram Narayana Reddy has said that 1.47 lakh quintals of groundnut seed has been supplied to farmers by the Agriculture Department during the kharif season and there is enough stock in the godowns. Responding to complaints at the district review meeting on Tuesday, Mr. Reddy, who was in the chair, said to solve the drinking water problem on a permanent basis in the town, a project to bring water from Kandaleru in Nellore district would be taken up with an estimated cost of Rs. 1,360 crore. It would also solve the problem in 160 villages en route. Storage tankFurther the drinking water problem in Madanapalle would be solved by constructing a summer storage tank at Rs. 80 lakh and laying pipe lines at a cost of 62 lakh. At present Rs. 20 lakh had been sanctioned for transportation of drinking water. Referring to the slow progress in the construction of houses, he said an additional amount of Rs. 6,000 per unit had been sanction besides Rs.50 per bag of cement to be bought in the open market. Ration cards Further 35 lakh new ration cards would be distributed in the State from August 15. The officers were directed to give replies immediately to the letters of people’s representatives without fail said Mr. Reddy said. Law and Technical Education Minister R. Chengareddy, Medical Education and Health Insurance Minister Galla Aruna Kumari, Government Chief Whip Kiran Kumar Reddy and Collector M.
