Market value of properties to be up by 5-30 p.c.

HYDERABAD: The increase in market values of properties for registration purpose in 144 towns and cities across the State, will range from 5 to 30 per cent.

Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy finally cleared the proposal made by the Registration & Stamps Department while reviewing the performance of the revenue-earning departments like Commercial Taxes, Excise and Transport. As already reported, the new rates will come into effect from August 1. B. Aravind Reddy, Commissioner & Inspector- General, Registration & Stamps, later told this correspondent that the maximum hike in market values would be in Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam where land rates had gone up steeply. With this, the purchasers of properties in urban areas will have to pay higher amount for registration.
