Probe sought into regularisation of MLA’s lands

HYDERABAD: The Andhra Pradesh Agriculture Labour Union has demanded a judicial inquiry into the alienation of “assignment lands” in Tallarevu mandal of East Godavari district in favour of Congress MLA Vatti Vasant Kumar. The CPI (M)-affiliated union plans to file a case against the regularisation of assignment lands in the High Court on the ground that it violated the Court’s stay on such allotments as also the provisions of the recently amended Assignment Lands (Prohibition of Transfer) Act, 1977. The union demanded resumption of the land failing which it would occupy and distribute it to the poor during the next phase of ‘Bhoo Poratam’ from August 15.
