The 76th South Indian music conference and festival of Indian Fine Arts Society will be held at Balamandir German Hall, T.Nagar, from December 18, 2008 to January 4, 2009. Musicologist S.Rajam, will be honoured with the title, ‘Sangita Kalasikhamani’ on the occasion.
The Indian Fine Arts Society (Ph: 2815 4360), will conduct their annual music competition (vocal and instrumental), as part of their music fest and conference, on August 30 and 31 and September 6 and 7, at Balamandir Vidyalaya, Prakasam Street, T.Nagar. Musician Parasala Ponnammal will be honoured at an award function to be held at Sri Vedavyasar Tapovanam, 1, Kalathumettu Street, near Jambulingeswarar Temple, Sembakkam, Kamarajapuram, Chennai – 600 073. The programme, to be held on August 3, 9.45 p.m., will also feature the vocal concert of Ponnammal with K.Bhama (vocal support), Lalgudi Vijayalakshmi (violin), Sertalai R.Ananthakrishnan (mridangam) and H.Sivaramakrishnan (ghatam).
