Gold jewellery stolen from actor’s house

TAMBARAM: Gold jewellery, precious stones and other valuables worth over Rs.5 lakh were burgled from the house of actor Anand in Uthandi off East Coast Road near Neelankarai.

The burglary came to light on Wednesday night when Mr.Anand and his family members returned home after a vacation in Thailand.

Anand, one of the lead actors of the hit Tamil film Thiruda Thiruda, directed by Maniratnam, had gone to the South East Asian country along with the rest of his family members on July 23.

On their return, he noticed the almirah broken open and the jewellery and valuables burgled.

The Neelankarai police said culprits had gained entry into the house by breaking open the rear door on the first floor.
