IN action: A personnel dousing the fire in a car on GST Road on Thursday. — TAMBARAM: Traffic on the arterial Grand Southern Trunk Road was affected in Chromepet for some time when a car caught fire on Thursday morning. Police said P.Balaji was driving the car from Mylapore to Tambaram along with some relatives. He had stopped the vehicle for a brief while near the GST Road - College Road intersection, when he noticed smoke emanating from the engine. Alarmed, occupants of the car got down and in minutes a fire broke out. On information, a fire tender from the Tambaram Fire Control rushed to the spot and put out the fire. None was injured.
