Chamber urged to extend its activities to other fields

HUBLI: The Karnataka Chamber of Commerce and Industries (KCCI), Hubli, as part of its 80th Foundation Day celebrations conferred the “Vanijya Ratna” award on five businessmen here on Friday.

Businessmen Damodardas Raathi of Bagalkot, Kasal S. Vittal of Davanagere, H.K. Patel of Hole Alur, Basavaraj Totad of Gadag and B.S. Satish of Kadur were honoured with the award in the presence of Sri Shivamurthy Murugharajendra Sharanaru of Brihanmath in Chitradurga.

Lauding the KCCI for organising the programme during solar eclipse, the swamiji urged businessmen to eschew superstition. “You prosper in your business because of your capability and intelligence and efforts. There is no need to believe in superstition for success in business,” the swamiji said.

He said the activities of KCCI should not be restricted to commerce alone. They should be extended to other fields also.

The swamiji made a presentation and gave some tips on becoming successful businessmen.

Journalist Patil Puttappa urged KCCI members to continue their fight for the cause of development in the region. KCCI was organising programmes and extending its activities keeping the entire State in the mind, he said and hoped that it would continue to fight for the growth of the State. Dr. Puttappa said unless people fought, it was difficult to get the demands of north Karnataka fulfilled.

Responding to the felicitation, the award winners promised to work towards the welfare of society.

President of KCCI V.P. Linganagoudar presided over the function. Former presidents of KCCI K.B. Desai, Madan Desai and Shankranna Munavalli were present.
