Nirmala College in semifinals

Coimbatore: Nirmala College scored a 3-0 win over Avinashilingam University and entered the semifinal of the Coimbatore Inter-Collegiate Athletic Association table tennis tournament for women at the Bharathiar University campus here on Friday.

PSG College of Arts and Science and Karunya University fashioned similar wins over Sri Ramakrishna Engineering College and Bharathiar University Departments respectively for a place in the last four.

Hockey: Bishop Appasamy 4 bt Karpagam 0; SNGC 4 bt CIT 0; PSG Tech 2 bt TCE 0.

Women:

Table tennis: Quarterfinals: Nirmala bt Avinashilingam 3-0; PSG CAS bt Sri Ramakrishna EC 3-0; Karunya University bt Bharathiar University Depts. 3-0.

Tennis: Bharathiar University Depts. 3 bt Nirmala 0.

Kabaddi: Kovai Kalaimagal 55 bt Nirmala 47.

Football: PSG CAS 2 bt PSG Tech 0.

Badminton meet

The Yonex Tamil Nadu junior inter-district and State badminton championships , organised by the Coimbatore District Badminton Association and sponsored by Anamalais Toyota and Reliance, will be held at the Jenneys Club from August 14 to 17.
