Artist as visitor of his own work

KOCHI: A multi-media installation that includes a terracotta installation, a painting, charcoal drawings, photographs and a video documentary by the painter Rajan M. Krishnan will open at Gallery OED on Wednesday.

Named ‘Revisit,’ the show highlights a miniature of Mr. Rajan’s huge terracotta installation ‘Ore,’ which was exhibited at Mumbai’s Bodhi Space early this year. ‘Ore’ was created during a three-month workshop at a potter’s studio in Kochi. The huge installation contained half-a-million earthen figurines hand-made by 178 workshop participants.

Mr. Rajan told a news conference on Friday that the miniature to be displayed at the Revisit show contained nearly one lakh figurines. He said the show was a revisit to his own work and was an act of remembering. The show also presents some 250 photographs of ‘Ore’ in the making and a documentary ‘Running Matter’ that shows clippings of the Ore’s creation.

The show will be on at OED basement from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. until August 30.
