Reopening of Amaravathy bridge next week

KARUR: The new bridge across River Amaravathy in Karur town would be reopened for vehicular traffic on August 6.

The approach road to the bridge from the Thirumanilayur side suffered extensive damage during the November 2005 floods and after temporary restoration works the bridge was reopened in January 2006.

Repair works

In February 2008, permanent repair works were sought to be carried out and from then on the bridge remained closed.

After repair works, the bridge is to be reopened on August 6.
