Bus driver averts accident

PUDUKOTTAI: The presence of mind of a town-bus driver averted an accident at a manned level crossing near here on Friday.

The bus, plying between Pudukottai and Oonaiyur, was about to cross a manned level-crossing at Tiruvappur near the Collectorate, when its driver Ilamaran sighted a loco crossing the point, in full speed all of a sudden.

The manned gate was kept open when the incident happened.

Instant action

The driver’s instant action in driving the bus in the reverse-gear, helped avert an accident.

The authorities of the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation appreciated the timely action of the driver.
