Helpline for NREGA households to be set up

NEW DELHI: The Rural Development Ministry has decided to set up a national helpline here to enable the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (NREGA) scheme households seek assistance for protection of their entitlements under the Act.

Toll-free number

Besides the NREGA households, individuals and groups can also raise questions, submit grievances and complaints and seek guidance through the helpline (toll free MTNL number 1800110707).

The State governments and district administrations have also been asked to obtain helpline numbers and engage dedicated persons for the management of the lines.

Close monitoring

On receipt of calls, field level NREGA staff will get into action and get feedback. The complaints will be closely monitored.

The operations will be run with the use of latest information and communication technology.

The Ministry has issued advertisements, inviting expression of interest from reputed organisations to participate in the establishment and operation of the network of helplines.
