Inspection: A bomb detection squad checking the object on the premises of the Army Service Corps School in Bangalore on Saturday. BANGALORE: Panic gripped students and teachers when the former found an object fitted with a clock on the premises of the Army Service Corps School at Viveknagar on Saturday. The students informed the teachers, who in turn alerted the Viveknagar police. After inspecting the device, the police declared it to be a cracker. Some miscreants had tied two pieces of fireecracker with a wire and fixed it on a piece of wood and an old clock. Later, the police checked the premises. People took a beggar to the police and told them that he was the culprit. Ends lifeK.A. Desai (48), a head constable attached to the Karnataka State Reserve Police (KSRP), was found hanging from a tree in the police quarters at Madiwala. The police said Desai was working as an instructor at the KSRP training centre. The police have recovered a note purportedly written by Desai in which he stated that he was committing suicide as he was suffering from an aliment. Two die in accidentsTwo persons were killed in separate accidents in the city on Friday night and Saturday. A 24-year-old software engineer, who was riding pillion on a motorcycle, was killed when a lorry hit his vehicle near Doppanahalli bus stand on Indira Nagar 100 ft road on Friday. The police said Mahandra Kumar Regu and his friend Rajesh Singh (25) were returning from their office when the incident occurred. Regu died on the way to Chinmaya Mission Hospital while Rajesh is recovering. The Indiranagar traffic police are on the lookout for the lorry driver. A 35-year-old woman was killed when she was hit by a scooter while crossing the Old Madras Road near Indiranagar on Saturday. The Indiranagar traffic police are yet to ascertain the identity of the woman. Run overTwo persons were run over by trains on Saturday. The body of a 35-year-old man was found on the railway track near Devaiah Park, while the body of a 65-year-old man was found on the railway track near K.P. Agrahara. ArrestedThe Banashankari police arrested a man allegedly involved in 13 cases of burglary reported from Banashankari 2nd Phase and Padmanabhanagar. His name was given as Mohan (33).
