Rebel MP still being targeted

MUMBAI: Shiv Sainiks in Parbhani continue to target rebel party MP Tukaram Renge Patil, who abstained during the July 22 trust vote in the Lok Sabha.

On Saturday morning, there were a slanging match and slogan shouting when he visited the Maruti temple in Parbhani, escorted by the police. However, nothing untoward happened, according to Additional Superintendent of Police Arvind Chawria. Security has been stepped up at Mr. Patil’s house.

Mr. Patil, who disappeared after the trust vote, surfaced in Parbhani a few days ago. At a rally, he said he committed political suicide by rebelling against the Sena but did not regret his decision.
