BANGALORE: A day after the release of guidelines for dealing with disputes related to land and buildings, the city police on Sunday arrested a person claiming to be an advocate who has allegedly cheated people with fraudulent documents related to several sites in the city. The High Grounds police have arrested N. Harish Gowda for allegedly creating fictitious documents related to a 40 ft x 50 ft site of Chandrashekar, Retired Superintendent of Bowring and Lady Curzon Hospital. He posed as a BDA official to get documents from Mr. Chandrashekar’s wife. Mr. Chandrashekar had filed a complaint against Gowda. The police have recovered documents related to several other properties worth Rs. 2 crore in Indiranagar and Koramangala, which he wanted to sell. The police said Gowda has been involved in real estate business. He was collecting photo copies of documents from people, claiming to be an official of Bangalore Development Authority, as Supreme Court and High Court advocate and also as a former legislator. Using the photo copies he was preparing agreements and selling the properties to others. Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central) G. Ramesh said police were verifying his claim of being an advocate. Investigation was on to find the number of persons who have been cheated. The police are searching D. Chandru and Venkatesh, his alleged accomplices. KidnappedA 16-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and raped by a 22-year-old youth. The police rescued the girl from a room in Electronics City and arrested the youth. The girl studying in the first year of PUC went missing from Vivek Nagar since July 29. Her father filed a complaint accusing Vinod Selvan of kidnapping his daughter. The police traced Selvan in a room in Electronics City and rescued the girl who alleged that Selvan had raped her. The police arrested Selvan on Sunday and produced before him before the jurisdictional magistrate. The girl has been sent for medical examination. Found deadA 28-year-old driver, a garment factory employee, was found dead in his room in Jnana Ganga Nagar on Saturday. The police said Shivakumar P.S. was hired two months ago. He was staying alone in a room in Jnana Ganga Nagar. On Friday, Shivakumar went to take bath in the evening after the solar eclipse where he is said to have had an epileptic seizure. When repeated calls to his cell phone went unanswered, his friends came to his room to find him dead in the bathroom. The Jnanabharati police have registered a case. KilledA 32-year-old house broker was killed when he was hit by a lorry on Kanakapura Road on Saturday. The police said Suresh, a resident of Yelachenahalli, was returning from a party in an inebriated state. He was hit by a lorry while crossing the Kanakapura Road near Yelachenahalli. He was brought to Victoria Hospital where he died of injuries. The Kumaraswamy Layout traffic police have registered a case against the lorry driver. ArrestedThe Ashok Nagar police arrested Basava (23) for his alleged involvement in some cases of burglary and vehicle theft.
