Exquisite: Actor Anu Prabhakar looking at the items on display during the inauguration of the Cauvery Arts and Crafts exhibition in Bangalore on Monday. Bangalore: To provide a wider market to artisans, the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited has organised an exhibition-cum-sale of handicrafts and handcrafted textiles, jewellery, etc. The exhibition at Safina Plaza, organised by Cauvery, was inaugurated on Monday by actor Anu Prabhakar. the exhibition will be on till August 17. Some of the finest traditional art and crafts work of India, including mural art form from Bihar, miniature paintings from Rajastjan and Tanjore, gold and glass leaf painting from Karnataka, stained glass painting, glass embossing, velvet painting, gems and semi-precious stone paintings, artistic Kashmiri shawls and wall hangings, hand embroidered bedsheets from West Bengal, trays and showcase materials made of finely carved Seesham woods from Uttar Pradesh ion on display. “Apart from providing a platform to exhibit the attractive handicrafts made of the agricultural products, it also gives the artisans a means to self-employment,” said Srinath N.
