KASARAGOD: The DYFI and BJP organised separate blockades before the Kasaragod Municipal Office on Monday, demanding solution to the garbage problem in the town. The functioning of municipal office was affected following the blockade. Shifting of garbage from the town to the dumping ground at Kelugudde nearby has been affected for the last four days due to protests from Kelugudde residents. They complain that the garbage was spilling out of the dumping ground. Meanwhile, the municipal authorities dumped a part of garbage at some of the vacant spots in the town itself. Efforts are on to hold discussions with protesting residents to find a solution to the problem. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
