IUML to take on BJP, CPI(M)

MALAPPURAM: The Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) has chalked out a two-pronged action plan to take on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) at the Centre and the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in the State in the wake of the raging issue over the Indo-U.S nuclear deal.

The State committee of the party met at Manjeri on Monday to discuss the party’s strategies and policies to be followed in the run-up to the general elections to be held next year. The party leadership will, however, announce the details of the action plan on Tuesday.

IUML State president Sayed Mohammedali Shihab Thangal presided. Party general secretary E. Ahamed, State general secretary P.K. Kunhalikutty, and all senior leaders, including MLAs, took part in the meeting.

According to sources, the meeting lay thrust on kick-starting a rejuvenation campaign especially in the wake of the criticism it in the nuclear deal issue.

Separate sub-committees were formed to give shape to the action plan, which was to be concretised on Monday night so as to facilitate its announcement on Tuesday.

The committee also recast the Kozhikode district committee with P.K.K. Bava as president. M.C. Mayin Haji will continue to be the general secretary.
