Tapan Sinha better

Staff Reporter

Kolkata: Veteran filmmaker Tapan Sinha’s condition improved on Monday. He regained consciousness and responded well to treatment at a private hospital here where he was admitted with fever and respiratory complaints on Sunday morning.

The filmmaker was selected for the 2006 Dadasaheb Phalke Award last month, for his lifelong contribution to Indian cinema.

“Mr. Sinha’s temperature is almost normal and his respiratory problems are much under control. He has been kept under observation in an ICCU,” said P. Chatterjee, a doctor attending on Mr. Sinha. He said that Mr. Sinha’s pulse rate and blood pressure, though a little on the higher side, is under check.

This is the second time in two months that the 84-year-old filmmaker has been hospitalised.
