Mohun Bagan beats East Bengal

KOLKATA: Defending champion Mohun Bagan came back from being a goal down to defeat East Bengal 2-1 in the season’s first derby match of the Calcutta Football League here on Tuesday.

P.C. Lalawmpuia scored both the goals for Mohun Bagan after Alvito D’Cunha had put East Bengal ahead.

Mohun Bagan continued on top of the league table concluding its first-leg engagements with a tally of 16 points from seven matches.

East Bengal slipped to the fourth position with 11 points from seven outings. — Principal Correspondent
