Civic officials to spell out requirements

TIRUCHI: Tiruchi Corporation will computerise the process of issuing building plan approvals.

Some corporations in the State and Chennai Metropolitan Development Authority (CMDA) had adopted such a system.

Vinza Solutions, a Chennai-based company, which had developed the software for the CMDA, made a presentation to the civic officials at a meeting here.

Master plan

According to civic officials, computerisation would require uploading the master plan (a database comprising land use, ward, block and survey numbers) of the city.

The corporation was the first to introduce online tax collection. People remit property tax, drinking water and underground drainage charges through a network of bank branches and Corporation’s collection centres.

It has also computerised the issuance of birth and death certificates.

Manual scrutiny

After manual scrutiny, applications would be processed through the computerised system to verify if the drawings conformed to the rules. Applications to the Local Planning Authority and the Directorate of Town and Country Planning would also be processed through the system.

A team of officials will identify the software requirements of the Corporation.
