Strike by teachers of Central varsities today
New Delhi: A university teachers’ association has called a strike on Thursday to protest the delay in finalisation of report of the University Grants Commission (UGC) pay revision committee.
The Federation of Central Universities Teachers’ Association would observe the strike in Central universities all over the country to demand that the report of the committee, headed by Prof. G.K. Chaddha, be submitted soon, its president Aditya Narayan Mishra told reporters here. A delegation of the federation met UGC chairman Sukhadeo Thorat on Tuesday to convey their apprehensions.
More time sought
The Chaddha Committee, which was appointed in September 2007, has said it would take at least three more months to complete its report. — PTI
