For values' sake

There was excellent response for the cultural competitions conducted by the Vijayawada chapter of ISKCON. The competitions were held to inculcate and encourage various cultural aspects among children and college goers. A very large number of schoolchildren and aspiring youngsters took part in the event showing abundant talent in dance, music, dance dramas, mono action, national songs etc. The venue was S. V. S. Kalyana Mantapam. It was heartening to see as many as 200 children competed and many parents of the competitors also attended, enjoying the colourful event.

Ram Murari Das, co-ordinator of ISKCON cultural programmes, said Indian culture teaches that every task should be done in dedication to the Lord. Programmes of this kind were conducted by ISKCON to educate the youngsters in moral, cultural and spiritual values. The programme was titled Raga.

The winners in the competitions were awarded prizes. K. Sasidhar and M. Vijayakumar, staff members of G. V. R. Government College of Music and Dance, Vijayawada, acted as judges for the musical events.
