Hamsadhwani will present five concerts by talented young artistes as part of its annual Guru-Sishya series. The Guru will be honoured, and his/her disciple will perform in the Guru’s presence. Dr. Karaikudi S. Subramaian, founder, Brhaddhvani, will inaugurate the series on August 9. The opening concert will feature .Subha Srinivasan (vocal) and Guru Lalgudi Rajalakshmi will be honoured. Other concerts in this series are: Aug 10: Rajeev, Giridhari, Raghavasimha, Prashanth (violin) Guru: A. Kanyakumari; Aug 16: Aishwarya Vidya Raghunath (vocal) Guru: Seethalakshmi Venkatesan; Aug 30: S.Malavika (vocal) Guru:Padmavathy Ananthagopalan; Aug 31: Dr. Shankar Venkatraman (vocal) Guru: .V.Subramaniam. All programmes are at 6.15 pm at Youth Hostel lawns, II Avenue, Indira Nagar, Adyar.
The Mylapore Fine Arts Club, 45, Musiri Subramaniam Salai, Mylapore, Chennai, will confer the title ‘Nataka Kala Nipuna,’ on veteran stage artist, Karur S.P.Rangaraj. The event is to take place on the inaugural day of their sixth year drama festival on August 15.
A six-day music festival is being organised at Sri Periapalayathamman Temple, Adyar, in connection with ‘Aadi Thiruvizha.’ The programme, which began from August 5 will feature concerts of eminent artists. The following is the list of concerts. August 8 – T.V.Sankaranarayanan; August 9 – Abishek Raghuraman and August 10 – O.S.Thiagarajan.
