Healthy baby contest conducted

A pledge on breastfeeding awareness was administered to the women.

PUDUKOTTAI: Distribution of prizes to winners in the ‘healthy baby’ contest formed the highlight of the valediction of the ‘Breastfeeding Week’ celebrations organised jointly by the Integrated Child Development Scheme Innerwheel Club of Pudukottai, Rotary Clubs of Pudukottai Midtown and Kingtown here on Wednesday.

Collector Reeta Harish Thakkar gave away the prizes to the winners of the contest. Speaking on the occasion, she underlined the importance of breastfeeding, particularly during the first six months, in developing immunity for the infants against various diseases.

Three infants were selected as winners in the health baby contest. A pledge on breastfeeding awareness was also administered to the women.

Revenue Divisional Officer D. Mohan, Project Officer of ICDS, Mangayarkarasi and representatives of service organisations offered felicitations.
