3 fishermen rescued

NAGAPATTINAM: Three fishermen Chandrasekar (40), Rajendran (43) and Dhanraj (38) of Pushpavanam village on the Vedaranyam coast in Nagapattinam district whose boat sank off Point Calimere on Wednesday, were rescued by fishermen of another boat.

Thatched houses gutted

Two thatched houses were destroyed in a fire that broke out at Palaiyur village near Mayiladuturai in Nagapattinam district on Wednesday as a live electric wire snapped and fell on a house. Fire service personnel put out the fire.
