MANNARGUDI: The Chamber of Commerce at Mannargudi has appealed to the Chief General Manager of State Bank of India, Chennai, to take steps to improve the facilities at Mannargudi branch for the customers. Customer service is very poor at the branch and customers are told that there is a staff shortage. The members of the chamber staged a demonstration before the bank branch at Mannargudi to highlight their demands on Wednesday. They appealed to the CGM to take steps to increase the staff strength in the bank, extend the working hours till 6 p.m., start a separate branch for personal banking, inauguration of an additional automatic teller machine (ATM), counters to replace torn and old currency notes, and appointment of a separate officer for SBI Life insurance. They said it took half a day to do a single transaction in the branch. G.N.Chandrabalan, President of the chamber, A.
