Bomb hoax call at school, hospital

Anti- sabotage teams conduct check

Mettupalayam: Mettupalayam Municipal Girls High School near the bus stand received a phone call stating that a bomb planted in the school would go off.

Following the information, the school declared a holiday. Police personnel conducted checks and found the call to be a hoax.

The police on Wednesday night also received a call that a bomb would go off at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital.Anti-sabotage teams conducted check and found the call to be a hoax.

Road blockade

Members of the Narikurava community blocked road in front of the Mettupalayam Taluk office demanding house site pattas. The members from Thimmampalayam, near Karamadai, said that the sites given to them near the hill on February 2, 2006 could not be occupied till date as the farmers in the area resisted it.

They also demanded house site pattas for 36 more Narikurava community members. Revenue and police officials held talks with agitators and promised to look into it.
