VIZIANAGARAM: TDP district president Y. Ramana Murthy on Friday confirmed that in-charge of Cheepurupalli Assembly constituency Gadde Babu Rao quit the post citing personal reasons and left for Dwaraka Tirumala.

Addressing a press conference, Mr. Murthy said that party leaders would talk to him after he returned from the tour. Reacting to reports in a section of the media, Mr. Murthy said that he had been functioning as per the guidance of the party high command and Polit Bureau member P. Ashok Gajapathi Raju. He would not contest the forthcoming elections unless the party asked him to do so, he added.

On shortage of fertilizers, Mr. Murthy said that the party had submitted a memorandum two months ago but the Collector made no efforts to overcome the problem. Party leaders I.V.P. Raju, A. Ramana and others were present.
