Lokknath holds Srikanth

Rajapalayam: S. Lokknath of Chennai held Srikanth Ajay of Chennai in the second round of the Sree Jayajothi Cements 21st Tamil Nadu State u-13 chess championship at Rajapalayam on Friday.

Important results (second round): Boys: M. Mukesh 1 lost to Tejas Ravichandran 2; Srikanth Ajay 1.5 drew with S. Lokknath 1.5; L. Bharath 1 lost to G. Akash 2; Somasundaram 1 lost to M. Gokulakrishnan 2.

Girls: K. Induja 1 lost ot J. Saranya 2; J. Vaishnavi 2 bt A. Casmier Ldeth 1; B. Madhana 1 lost to C.K. Varsha 2; P. Bala Kannamma 2 bt K. Bakshana 1; Meenupriya 1.5 drew with P. Michelle Catherina 1.5.

Kamaraj advances

Kamaraj College, Tuticorin, and SPK College, Alwarkurichi, entered the quarterfinals of the Manonmaniam Sundaranar University inter-collegiate cricket tournament at Kovilpatti on Friday.

Aditanar College, Tiruchendur, 103 in 25 overs (Karthisan three for 19) lost to Kamaraj College, Tuticorin, 104 for four in 18.3 overs (Arockiaraj 38); Arulmigu APA College, Nanguneri, 113 in 24.5 overs lost to SPK College, Alwarkurichi, 114 for five in 22.5 overs (Udayakumar four for 15).
