TIRUCHI: The All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA) has urged the government to ban online trading as it was the chief cause for the sharp rise in the prices of essential commodities. The organisation has also urged the government to directly procure the agricultural produce from the farmers and distribute them through the public distribution system. A resolution to this effect was adopted at the AIDWA conference held in the city recently. By another resolution, it urged the government to take necessary steps to regulate power trips. They wanted the government to take steps to ban obscene songs in buses. Since college girls were affected by eve teasing, the drivers and the conductors should be given an orientation about the Act to prohibit such kind of crimes. © Copyright 2000 - 2009 The Hindu |
