Volleyball title for Sathyabama

THANJAVUR: Sathyabama University and Loyola College won the volleyball and football titles respectively at the A. Veeriah Vandayar Memorial tournaments at Poondi Pushpam College here.

The results: Volleyball: Final: Sathyabama University bt Jamal Mohammed College 25-20, 25-19, 25-19. Semifinals: Sathyabama University bt MAM CET 25-13, 25-11; Jamal Mohammed College bt Enathi Rajappa College 25-13, 25-11.

Football: Final: Loyola College bt Sathyabama University 5-4 (via tiebreaker). Semifinals: Loyola College bt Thyagaraya College 4-0; Sathyabama University bt MAM CET 3-0.

K.S. Arunmozhi (49 and three for 27) helped Map CC score a 10-run win over Pudukottai Recreation Club in the final of the Indian Overseas Bank – M.Ct.M. Chidambaram Chettiar birth centenary T20 cricket tournament at Tiruchi.

The scores: Final: Map CC 129 in 19.5 overs (K.S. Arunmozhi 49, R. Karthik 25, N. Vishukumar four for 19, R. Nishanth Sakthivel three for 25) bt Pudukottai Recreation Club 119 for seven in 20 overs (M.R. Muthupandi 49, K.S. Arunmozhi three for 27).

Semifinals: Apollo CC 92 in 18 overs (Arun three for six, K.B. Karthik two for 17, Sundar two for 18) lost to MAP CC 93 for four in 14.2 overs (Arun 35 not out, Ramesh two for 17).
