Tight security in Jammu

Staff Reporter

Jammu: A security blanket was thrown over the city on Saturday and Army jawans cordoned off even the entry points of residential colonies.

Barbed wires were put up and passes cancelled to prevent violation of curfew orders.

At some places protesters violated curfew orders but everything remained under control.

Curfew continued to be in force in other major towns of the Jammu region. The Army conducted a flag march in Poonch and imposed restrictions in several other districts. Relaxations were withdrawn as a precautionary measure in Samba, Jammu, Rajouri and Kathua.

In Kathua, curfew was extended for another 72 hours by the district administration.

The scene of action shifted to Karan Nagar, the residential colony just beside the Raj Bhavan where an all-party delegation held talks. Locals staged peaceful protests near the wall which separated the Raj Bhavan complex and the colony.
